David Kolodny-Nagy is a man obsessed. Drawing, painting and cartooning even before he could walk, this mad yet brilliant genius quickly became infatuated with the comic book medium. He published his first comic book back in October 1994 as a convention exclusive. It was entitled Comic Smorgasbord and was released in conjunction with BotCon, the Transformer convention.
After that Kolodny-Nagy took a break from comics to delve into the film medium. Kolodny-Nagy studied film at NYU and went on to direct and shoot numerous short films, write several features and study animation. Finding his way to California, he further honed his craft at San Diego State University where he got his masters degree in film production. He garnered the support of the film community by creating Crew Call! -a student creative directory. He also began the Spin Cycle Raw Ruff and Unrefined Film Festival that ran for several years out of SDSU and continues to be a regular part of the San Diego Comic Con. Most recently Kolodny-Nagy completed the hilarious 20-minute short film Spin Cycle, serving as writer, director, co-producer, editor and animator. The slapstick comedy has already gone on to play in the DC Independent Film Festival and at IFP/West's Cinema Lounge, as well as secure spots in several festivals for next year. But now this madman artist has returned to his first love- comic books. He quickly realized the comic book medium is an excellent outlet to present concepts for development as film and television projects. So in 1997 he started up Smorgasbord Productions, an indie comic studio, to produce the books he wants to see on the big screen. Currently, he is storyboarding professionally in Los Angeles. He hopes to develop a television pilot for his series "Mad Beanz!" There are also plans to direct a live action feature once he gets his hands on 3 million dollars, a certain A list actor and a truck load of special FX. Good luck you nut!
