Bruno Blanchard is French, he lives and works in Norway, in Bergen. For twelve years he was artistic director in the fields of edition and communication in Lyon (France). He now devotes himself to his painting. His work is atypical and contemporary, between architecture and painting, his style forces our attention, his details guide us though edifices which naturally find their point of balance.
By staring at his works, we can see schemes of towns seen from the sky appearing, though Bruno Blanchard does not specially try to wander in this direction. If his painting work transports and attracts us, what can be said then about his totem poles and his cubes. He uses volume to stress the idea of route and space. His line then takes its whole dimension and if his paintings bring us to look, his totem poles and cubes bring us to move. Thus we go through his works as we would trough towns where each angle is a crossroad, each side another story. He uses a ball-point pen, and then mixes inks, pencils and paints on wood. Bruno Blanchard wants his work to be looked at freely. |
