Mary Ann Gough’s intricate creations reveal the beauty and hidden treasures in Tropical Rainforests of Hawaii, South America, the Caribbean, Mexico and Asia. Her paintings exhibit a flair for vibrant colors, detailed realism, native customs and authenticity.
The artist is very much interested in SAVING THE RAINFOREST and the wildlife within. Her subjects reflect her interest and devotion to third world and folk idioms. Mary Ann studied art at Scripps College under Phil Dike and sculpture under Nishan Tour, a renowned sculptor. She was selling paintings at the age of fourteen and teaching art by the age of sixteen. In addition she painted murals in private Pasadena and San Marino estates. She later established her own graphic art agency which prospered for over twenty-five years. She has designed and sold jewelry, batiks, and ceramics. She has been commissioned to paint murals, to do silk screening and has designed stained glass. Her works have been exhibited at galleries in Laguna Beach, Pasadena, Lake Arrowhead and others. She has been a competition finalist and winner in the Yosemite Renaissance Competition – Western Women – and The American Legion. Art Contributions have gone to Rain Forest Action Network in San Francisco. |
